Element's Eight - Exotic Spices Small Batch Rum
Element's eight - more like elements everything except the kitchen sink. Let me give you an idea of why I say that, on the bottle it boasts the following "married" with the rum: cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, nutmeg, star anise, orange and lemon. First off it definitely smells like it has a ton of conflicting flavours and a clear "spice smell" and more so than that I could smell it clearly even while it sat on the other end of my desk. In terms of a taste I can only describe as "I hope you like anise" because that is all I could taste. If you can find a way to move past that then you will be able to somehow make out a slight vanilla taste. (maybe the rest if you try enough)
The Bar Test
I wish I could tell you that it had some really complex flavours that combined in a way that let to a new and interesting experience that is further complimented by the coke. I wish I could say that but the reality is all you can taste is anise, no interesting tastes, no coke just anise. There wasn't really anything else to say about it unfortunately.
If you really like anise then you may really enjoy having some anise with hints of many other tastes and smells. For me while I enjoy some anise jelly beans I don't really enjoy it with my drinks so obviously if you can't tell by now I was not a fan. If I could taste more vanilla or some of the alleged other "married" flavours and tone down or remove the anise then this could of been great for summer. However it looks like another bottle I will do my best to offload as soon as possible.
1. Better then the shot or bar test, slightly sweeter.
2. More anise, more disappointment.
3. Very similar to the bar test, which isn't a good thing.
4. Taste more like coke finally but you'll find the anise in the after taste.
